Mortal Kombat

Techno Syndrome (aka Mortal Kombat) is the hit techno song from the 1994 movie, Mortal Kombat. It was an instant classic. It's syncopated, punchy rhythm is perfectly suited to the attack of multiple percussion instruments. In 2018, I decided to make my own arrangement of the song for a Percussion Ensemble I was directing. It was so popular, I have had several students request to perform the piece solo with the track. This chart is a modified ensemble piece, with all the best mallet parts put onto marimba. It could equally be performed on xylophone or vibraphone as well, however the soft middle section (named Break 2), may sound a little clunky on a xylophone. Enjoy this killer song, but be careful the rhythms don't become sloppy as the piece will very easily sound bad, if it is not precisely in time.
